Why choose a Teak bokken or jitte?

Unmatched Hardness:

Brazilian teak has a Janka hardness rating of 3540, making it nearly twice as hard as Hickory and almost identical to Ipe.

Excellent Density:

The wood is incredibly heavy and dense, it resists chipping and cracking even during high-impact training.

Distinct Appearance:

Cumaru boasts vibrant color variations ranging from golden-brown to reddish-brown, often featuring rich, interlocking grain patterns.

Natural Resistance:

The wood is naturally resistant to decay and moisture, keeping the weapon in excellent condition over time

Maintenance:

While Cumaru doesn't require high-maintenance care like softer woods, occasionally wiping it down with a light coat of boiled linseed or tung oil keeps the wood hydrated and looking sharp

Bokken Sori

The bokken sori has a depth of 1 inch. The total bokken length is 41.5 inches. The shinogi blends into the handle in a smooth transition.

Handle

The handle has a rounded, comfortable shape.

Distal taper

The blade is carved with a distal taper, which makes the bokken feel incredibly light to handle.

Jitte

The Jitte is custom made to our preferred specifications. It features a tapered handle, and a steel hook.

Hook

Each Jitte hook is hand crafted with steel and then permanently pinned in place with brass. The steel does not protrude out the other side of the handle, making these Jitte a pleasure to train with.

Steel

The steel hooks are shaped on an anvil and sanded to the required thickness.

Craftsmanship

Each Jitte hook is created by hand, on an anvil that has been in Matt's family for 5 generations.
